LETTER FROM AYHL COMMISIONER - RE: NEW LEAGUE BEING FORMED

Intro:

What you need to know about some of the newly formed leagues is just that; they are new. They haven’t proven that their members are even capable of functioning cooperatively in a league environment; some are being required to pay expensive franchise fees, making costs needlessly higher for the player. Also, the extensive travel implications appear to be without careful consideration.

The Minutemen are a Tier I “AAA” program.
As defined by USA Hockey, Tier I “AAA” is the highest competitive level of ice hockey in the United States. The Minutemen program is designed to further develop and challenge our most skilled players to compete against elite level teams at the local and national level. These teams compete in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL).

Tier I hockey is subdivided into Major and Minor teams. Minor teams are comprised of first year players at that level and Major teams are comprised of second year players. Major teams at the Peewee level and above are eligible for the USA Hockey National Championships.

Mission

Foster an environment that promotes personal growth, character and athletic development of all student athletes.  Compete and excel within USA Hockey at the local and national level and ultimately advance quality individuals who are prepared to lead on and off the ice.

Philosophy

Our program is committed to the development of all student athletes by placing an emphasis on:

  • Quality coaches.
  • Fundamental skill development through proper instruction and repetition.
  • Instilling the values of character, integrity, sportsmanship and teamwork.
  • Having fun while competing hard with pride, discipline and respect for the game.
  • Commitment to teamwork and accountability.
